Construction/Startup Costs

A new tenant improvement space at 1800 square feet with a drive up will be much more expensive than a kiosk or a drive-thru only style building. Example: 2007 Boise Idaho 1700 square foot new T.I. build out walk-in cafe with a full service drive up window, hard construction costs added up to $245,000.00. Add to that $65,000 in food and coffee equipment, $8,000 in sewage and municipal fees, $3,000 in permits, $19,500 for a refrigerated display case. We provide full construction estimating before construction drawings and contracts go to bid.

Hiring a Consultant

Hiring coffee and retail cafe consultants is a necessity. Café Design & Architecture recommends that if you have never operated a retail coffee establishment it is very important that you consider an on-site consultant prior to opening. The consultants we suggest are some of the best in the industry. They have a complete knowledge and understanding of the retail cafe business, and do what they do because they love what they do!

Getting Involved with Specialty Coffee Organizations

A coffee trade show such as Coffee Fest or SCAA will be invaluable for your beginning and continuing education on the products and services offered in the coffee industry.
